Construction Officially Commenced
A sod-turning ceremony marked the official commencement of works at McQuoin Park in April this year.
Among the many guests at the ceremony were the Member for Berowra, Mr Julian Leeser, the Member for Hornsby, Mr Matt Kean, Father Peter Ranson, from the Diocese of Broken Bay, representatives of the Sisters of Mercy, and local dignitaries from Hornsby Shire Council.
“We are excited to mark this new development and we look forward to unveiling the first stage of McQuoin Park Retirement Living next year,” said Andrew Kinkade, General Manager of Residential Care for Catholic Healthcare.
“We’re also extremely grateful to the Sisters of Mercy, who gifted the land to us, so that we can continue to develop sites like this to assist people to live life in all its fullness,” he added.
A smoking ceremony—an ancient Aboriginal custom that wards off bad spirits, cleanses the site and makes way for a brighter future—was also performed by Koomurri Incursions.
